Kothaligad (Peth) Fort is one of the most well-known trekking destinations in the Karjat region of the Western Ghats. Known for its distinctive, funnel-shaped pinnacle often referred to as the “Needle Hole,” the fort offers an easy to medium difficulty trek, making it accessible for both beginners and experienced hikers. The trail from the base village of Ambivli takes visitors through dense greenery and past the spacious Bhairoba Cave before ascending the final, dramatic rock-cut steps to the top. From the summit, trekkers are rewarded with stunning, panoramic views of the surrounding Sahyadri mountain ranges and nearby peaks.
